A key potential project under the spotlight for the Russian-Indian joint venture developer is the 600MW Budhi Gandaki scheme.
Recently, the developer said it was beginning studies into a potential series of hydropower schemes in Nepal and Himachal Pradesh state in India. Preliminary research work for sites in Himachal Pradesh is being undertaken by New Delhi-based Tojo Vikas International Pvt Ltd.
The JV was formed by Russian hydropower group Hydro OGK and India’s SUN Group on an equal basis in 2007. They plan for the JV to build and operate plants in both countries and note the attractiveness of the high demand in India’s electricity market.
