Port Arthur Refinery is a 600,000 barrels per day crude oil processing facility that can handle most grades of crudes, even the lowest quality.
The facility was closed down for scheduled maintenance, reported Dow Jones Newswires.
It was also reported by the publication that the Port Arthur refinery experienced a plant-wide shutdown on 14 April because of power interruption to the facility from its utility provider.
The company said that resuming normal operations at the plant would take several days.
Again on 26 April, the facility experienced a delay in the restart of a coker unit.
