The inauguration of the 11th combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) unit at CHP-21 seeks to address the energy security of the Moscow region, as part of Gazprom’s wider strategy to address the rising demand of electricity across Russia.
The commissioning of the CCGT unit at CHP-21 is the second unit commissioned over the past year as part of the Development and Technical Upgrade Program being implemented by Mosenergo.
The new unit will supply electricity and heat to over 100,000 apartments in the northwest and central districts of Moscow, as well as the town of Khimki.
Alexei Miller, Gazprom’s CEO, said: Today Gazprom has taken another step aimed at boosting the reliability of heat and power supply to the Moscow region’s consumers, and providing a stable energy platform for economic expansion in the Russian capital.
