Construction of the McLean’s Mountain wind project is expected to begin mid-year and the facility is scheduled to start operations by January 2012.

Northland CEO John Brace said that McLean’s Mountain and future projects will provide energy to Ontario and resources to strengthen United Chiefs and Councils of Mnidoo Mnising First Nations (UCCMM) communities, while respecting our environment.

MMP is a corporation established by the UCCMM a tribal council based on and around Manitoulin Island in Ontario, Canada.

The partnership with Northland Power starts with the McLean’s Mountain wind farm but includes all future renewable energy projects on the UCCMM First Nations’ traditional territory, and down the road may include solar, hydro, gas or electrical infrastructure projects, the company said.
