As per the MoU, the Danish government will conduct EV promotional activities and build an EV infrastructure, following which it will consider introducing i-MiEVs into its fleet in or after 2011.
The signing of the MOU with MMC is a part of the Danish government’s environmental conservation initiative to reduce CO2 emissions in its country for which it has also introduced EV-related tax incentives.
MMC, which is already selling i-MiEV in Japan and in Hong Kong, has also signed MoUs with several governments globally including the Principality of Monaco and Iceland, among others to work on the popularization and promotion of EVs in these countries.
Osamu Masuko, president of Mitsubishi Motors, said: “I am very happy that Denmark, one of the world’s environmentally-leading countries, has chosen Mitsubishi Motors to be a partner in the popularization of EVs. I believe we will be able to contribute to the realization of a better environmental society for Denmark.”
