Japan-based trading firm Mitsubishi has acquired two new solar projects with capacities of 36mw and 20mw in France, through its UK-based subsidiary Diamond Generating Europe (DGE), from EDF Energies Nouvelles.

Mitsubishi will hold a 50% share in each project. Japanese and French financial firms have already approved 80% funding for the projects.

DGE and EDF Energies are together operating part of the 55mw Toul Rosieres solar plant in France since January 2013.

Mitsubishi has also taken steps to integrate all renewable energy and conventional independent power producer (IPP) assets under DGE to improve efficiency in the managing assets and business development throughout Europe and Middle East.
