The US Army Corps of Engineers has awarded Omaha, Nebraska-based Adesta a US$4.3M contract to upgrade security systems at four hydroelectric dams.

Under the terms of the deal, Adesta is to design, build and integrate physical security, access control and new surveillance systems at facilities on the Missouri river between Montana and South Dakota.

There are six hydro power dams on the stretch of the Missouri river specified; Fort Peck dam, Garrison dam, Oahe dam, Big Bend dam, Fort Randall dam and Gavins Point dam.

The four installations earmarked for upgrades have not been named.

Work is to be completed in 2005.
