Mississippi is hosting the National Association of Pipeline Safety Representatives Southern Region annual conference in Biloxi this week.

The conference is set to focus on such issues like pipeline safety, safety standards, education, training, and technology.

Rickey Cotton works with the Public Service Commission, and is the director of the Pipeline Safety Division.

Cotton currently serves as Regional Chair of the National Association of Pipeline Safety Representatives (NAPSR), which is composed of state pipeline safety directors, inspectors and technical personnel from (9) Southern States including Puerto Rico and also serves on the NAPSR Liaison Committee.

"We are proud and lucky to have Rickey as part of the Mississippi PSC team, he and his inspectors play a big part in keeping Mississippi safe," said Commissioner Cecil Brown, Public Service Commission Central District.

The mission of the Pipeline Safety Division is to protect the public and environment from the accidental release of natural gas with a compliance program that promotes educational standards for the industry and contributes to the health and security of Mississippi.
