MidAmerican Renewables has completed the acquisition of the 81MW Bishop Hill II wind project from Invenergy Wind in the US state of Illinois.

Bishop Hill II is the second phase of Invenergy’s Bishop Hill Wind Energy Center.

Construction on the wind power project began in fourth quarter 2011 in Henry County and the facility will feature 50 General Electric 1.62MW wind turbines.

The Bishop Hill II is expected to be in commercial operation in fourth quarter of this year.

Under the terms of a 20-year power purchase agreement, Ameren Illinois will buy the electricity from the project.

The first phase, Bishop Hill I, also is under construction in Henry County, and will be owned and operated by Invenergy.

Bishop Hill I includes 133 General Electric wind turbines and will commence commercial operations in mid-2012.
