The power plant will be built at Kyushu Electric Power’s existing Shin Oita thermal power station in Oita City, Japan.
The power plant will feature an advanced M501J gas turbine, a SRT-50 steam turbine with 50-inch blade, a heat recovery steam generator and a generator.
MHPS said the new plant will help ensure a more stable electricity supply by significantly expanding the power station’s generating capacity.
The addition of the new plant increases the total number of facilities at the Shin Oita thermal power to 14 GTCC power plants with a collective installed power generation capacity of 2,775MW.
MHPS had earlier supplied GTCC power generation systems to the Shin Oita thermal power station and several other customers in Japan and other countries.
