Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has secured an order to supply two steam-turbines, each with a generating capacity of 350MW, for two large-scale coal-fired thermal power plants in Morocco.

The facilities are being built by Jorf Lasfar Energy Company 5&6, a power plant company owned by Abu Dhabi National Energy Co (TAQA).

The turbines will be delivered to a consortium formed by Daewoo Engineering & Construction and Mitsui & Co for the construction project.

The coal-fired plants will be built in an existing power station in the Jorf Lasfar district in the southwest of Casablanca.

The plants will be built as the No 5 and No 6 units to expand the power station and adjoin existing power plants operated by Jorf Lasfar Energy, which is also a subsidiary of TAQA.
