The move will deliver a facility to temporally store radioactive waste (sludge) generated in the processing of radiation-tainted water.
Tokyo Electric Power, the operator of the power station, is taking several measures towards restoration after the accident at the plant caused by a devastating earthquake and tsunami in March.
Reactors are now being cooled by circulating water that is treated by radioactive substance removal and desalination processes.
MHI said the sludge storage facility will include sludge storage tanks, a system to process off-gas from the sludge storage tanks, a ventilation and air-conditioning system, a control system and utility facilities.
