The valves are designed to carry out partial valve stroke tests to assess performance, on a regular basis, for the plant’s predictive maintenance purposes. They are compatible with Foundation Fieldbus communication protocol.
The refinery is owned by Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries (Orpic), a joint venture of Oman Refineries andPetrochemicals (ORPC), Aromatics Oman (AOL) and Oman Polypropylene (OPP).
Originally constructed and commissioned in 2006, the refinery is located in the Sohar Industrial Area, 230km north-west of Muscat, Oman.
In November 2013, Orpic selected a 50/50 joint venture of Petrofac and Daelim for the Sohar refinery expansion.
The expansion involves upgrading existing facility and addition of new refining facilities.
