This upgrade will expand Renison Mine’s total mineral resource of tin metal by 31 % to 11.57 million tonnes including 1.76% of tin metal equivalent to about 204,000 tonnes.
Expansion of resources have been announced following advancement of the Central Federal Bassett Zone that has increased drilling results from both exploration and resource definition phases.
Metals X CEO Peter Cook said the result and comes on the back of a large Ore Reserve increase announced on 17 July 2013.
"Today’s announcement is important not only in regards to the quantum of increase in the Mineral Resource, but also as it represents a major step change in our ability to quantify and evaluate the world class Rension tin system," Cook added.
"We are now focused on converting the increases to this substantial Mineral Resource to Ore Reserve and reaping the benefits of the improved schedule flexibility that the additional ore will bring to the mine."
According to the company, the current total mineral resource at Renison is equivalent to over 16 years of current annual plant capacity.
The mining company expects the expansion to increase the improvement opportunities in production scheduling.
With the addition of the Central Federal Bassett ore, the current total Mineral Resource within the southern part of the mine now is 6.018 million tonnes that resulted in 73% increase in the tin basis to 113,000 tonnes compared to the previous excavations in the Southern Area Mineral Resource.
The company plans to focus resource growth at the mine to North Rension mine area, which is expected to offer similar growth in the mine’s tin inventory.
