American utility services company Metadigm Services will deploy automated meter reading (AMR) gas and meters for Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO), a US-based energy supplier.

Under the agreement which is effective from the first quarter of 2013, Metadigm Services will install Itron gas ERT’s and electric meters during a period of three years.

NIPSCO projects vice president Mike Hooper stated, "This is a major service improvement for our customers, and we selected Metadigm for their proven experience with large-scale meter installations, their rigorous process playbook and constant focus on safe work practices."

Metadigm said it will deploy a team to support up to 60 local installers from the #153, #305, #531, #668, #697, and #873 of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).

Commenting on the project, Metadigm Services chief executive Rob Shively said "We’ll be working close with Itron and the IBEW Locals to create outstanding customer service functionality for northern Indiana residents."
