New Zealand’s Meridian Energy is investigating plans to develop a wind farm with a capacity of up to 1 GW in Central Otago at a cost of up to NZ$2 billion (€1.25 billion).

The Rocklands Station, in the Lammerlaw Ranges near Dunedin on the South Island, may see up to 300 turbines installed. Meridian has already installed three wind monitoring towers on the site.
