The company has deployed the Dive Support Vessel Thebaud Sea (DSV) for an emergency pipeline repair intervention for offshore UAE, as part of the deal.

McDermott said that the DSV has been fast-tracked third time in recent times to carry out an emergency response, while the contract is included in its first quarter 2014 backlog.

McDermott offshore executive vice president Scott Cummins said the pipeline must be safely isolated and then stabilised before any repairs can be executed to ensure the safety of the diver and the environment.

"Pipeline failures can often result in significant production loss, which is why reaction speed to these cases is critical," Cummins added.

"Although there is added pressure due to the impact in oil revenues, Health, Safety and the Environment remains at the forefront for Emergency Pipeline Repair Systems ("EPRS")."

McDermott provides fixed and floating production facilities, pipelines and subsea systems for complex offshore and subsea oil and gas projects to produce and transport hydrocarbons.
