The latest addition to Maxwell’s CONDIS family of high-voltage capacitors and capacitive dividers, the EVT can be used for digital current and voltage monitoring in smart grids to ensure grid measurement accuracy due to its low voltage output and high temperature stability.
Maxwell high tension general manager and vice president Sacha Jenny said: "The EVT helps meet the needs of the growing number of automated substations to ultimately improve grid efficiency, and will also help Maxwell increase its customer traction in the electric utility market."
The Maxwell EVT’s lighter and slimmer size, as compared to the CVT, will save time for integrators and utilities at considerable footprint in each substation that is operated.
GTM Research estimates that the smart grid market’s cumulative value would surpass $400bn by 2020.
