A consortium of Marubeni, GE and PT Hutama Karya has been awarded a contract for the construction of a combined cycle power plant in Central Java.

The consortium will build the 780 MW Tambak Lorok block 3 plant for PT Indonesia Power, with operations scheduled to start in 2020.

The power plant, located in Semarang, will be located alongside existing power plants at the site and will provide a significant boost to the region’s generating capacity.

The consortium partners will undertake engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning. Marubeni will provide the balance of plant equipment including a heat recovery steam generator and install all equipment in the plant, while the main equipment such as a gas turbine, steam turbine, and generator will be provided by GE.

Hutama Karya will carry out civil construction.

The project is the first time that Marubeni and GE have collaborated on a large-scale combined cycle project as EPC contractors, Marubeni said.
