The project covers Karoo age sediments similar to those hosting the uranium mineralization at the company’s wholly owned Mkuju River Project in Tanzania.

Interuran has commenced exploration in the area in 1981 with airborne surveys which identified two key areas of interest ZVP1 and ZVP2 in Zimbabwe. These two areas became an immediate focus for further work that included geological mapping, ground radiometrics, radon gas geochemistry, trenching and sampling.

Between 1984 and 1989, work concentrated on ZVP1 with further mapping, sampling and core drilling. A total of 351 holes were drilled for 37,370 meters, identifying mineralization to 200 meters below surface. The mineralization strikes northwest-southeast, dips to the northeast, and was traced over a strike length of one kilometer. Between 1990 and 1992, environmental baseline studies, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies (including pilot metallurgical testwork), were completed on ZVP1. ZVP 2 is located ten kilometers to the southeast of ZVP1.

The RC drilling programme on ZVP Mozambique aims to test an area of radiometric and geochemical anomalism between ZVP 1 and ZVP 2. The programme will initially comprise approximately 1,000-2,000 metres of drilling to test a geophysical and geochemical target zone and will take up to one month to complete.

The work is being completed as part of the company’s ongoing strategy to test regional exploration targets in both Mozambique and Tanzania to fuel its future growth strategy within the Karoo sediments of southern Africa.
