“Building dams is a complicated endeavor. We have to do it correctly right from the beginning.
“The experiences of other countries will be studied and international experts consulted,” Taib said.
“We are now going into new areas of industry based on our rich water resources, which we will use to generate hydro power.
“Our studies have shown that we can boost electricity output to over 20,000 MW by 2030 by developing a series of dams,” Taib said, adding that this was an opportunity for the state to modernize its approach to development.
Taib also acknowledged that Sarawak had received much criticism on the projects but said this was part and parcel of development.
“We’re not going to fight them by arguing but by showing our capacity for development,” Taib added.
