Maersk Oil will plug and abandon the Jude-1 (5504/7-18) appraisal well in the south western part of the Danish North Sea.

Located in license 8/06, subarea B at water depths of 44m, Jude-1 was drilled as a vertical data acquisition well using the jack-up rig Noble Sam Turner.

The well targeted Lower Cretaceous Chalk, Upper Jurassic Farsund shale and potential sandstones within the underlying Farsund Formation.

The well has encountered oil in the Lower Cretaceous Tuxen Formation of the Bo South deposit but it terminated in Upper Jurassic clay stone at a depth of 3,488m below mean sea level. Also, it did not identify prognosed sandstones in the underlying part of the Farsund Formation.

Noble Sam Turner will be moved for the drilling of development wells at the Tyra South East field.
