Both the Aldous Major South discovery and the western extension of the Avaldsnes discovery in PL501 will be tested at the Espevaer prospect.
The company intends to drill the well at a total depth of 2,132m below mean sea level.
The well will be drilled with the drilling rig Transocean Leader and is expected to take 50 days.
Lundin Petroleum holds a 10% stake in PL265, while Statoil Petroleum holds a 40% stake, Petoro holds 30% stake, and Detnorskeoljeselskap holds 20% stake.
