Lundin Norway, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sweden-based independent oil and gas exploration and production company Lundin Petroleum will drill the well in production license 501 (PL501).

The company will spud the appraisal well 16/2-21 in PL501 using Bredford Dolphin facility, once it completes drilling of a wildcat well 16/4-6 in production licence 359.

Lundin will spud the well about 3km east of well 16/2-15 and 2.5km west of well 16/2-7 on Johan Sverdrup in the central part of the North Sea.

The latest well is the 13th well to be drilled in the license area, which was awarded on 23 January 2009 (APA 2008). The license area consists of parts of blocks 16/2, 3, 5, and 6.

Lundin with 40% interest is the operator of the license, while other licensees are Statoil Petroleum with 40% and Maersk Oil Norway with 20% interest, respectively.
