The LMCS solution enables schools to partake in efficient energy practices without sacrificing budget, a fundamental constraint for most US school systems.

LUMEnergi’s LMCS solution enables school administrators to customize the lighting in each environment according to its particular needs: classrooms, auditoriums and hallways have very different lighting requirements. Intelligent data collecting sensors evaluate the environment to autonomously regulate the lights based on availability of natural daylight. Additionally, switches for manual overrides allow teachers to adjust for specific needs, such as using projection screens, and allow faculty members to regulate individual office lights to their personal preferences if desired.

Occupancy sensors in the LMCS solution automatically dim lights when classrooms are empty to minimize daily consumption. This feature is also useful in hallways and other common areas such as restrooms, which remain unoccupied during most of the day, but would be unsafe to switch off altogether. With the LMCS controller, lights can be dimmed as the default setting and motion sensors adjust intensity as people go in and out.

“Lighting systems in schools is a key area in which we can reduce energy inefficiencies and keep money in the school’s pocket for more constructive spending,” said Michael D’Amour, chief executive officer of LUMEnergi. “The nature of schools is one of busy schedules and constant change, and during any given day, a particular room or area may be utilized more than others, and on varying schedules. Our lighting system accounts for these major and minor adjustments throughout the day.”

The LMCS solution’s availability is particularly helpful as more energy codes are being adopted and enforced nationwide. The LMCS solution was created to provide an attractive ROI and to ensure schools can comply with regulations while at the same time maintain a suitable learning environment and generate significant savings.
