The module is built on a versatile platform to allow for the latest ZigBee Pro stack and has the ability to transmit at up to 100MW RF output power for long range applications.
We’ve seen a significant increase of companies looking for a packaged RF solution to support the smart metering market. Pro-Flex gives them the advantage of providing a solution faster than the traditional development process, said Peter Mayhew” director of Western Sales at LS Research.
The Pro-FLEX module offers a complete feature set to enable developers to bring their end product to market quickly. The module is pending FCC/IC certification, which will allow for license free operation in North America and Canada. The Pro-FLEX software is based on the IEEE 802.15.4 and ZigBee software stack, which are industry standards and provides interoperability between products. Other popular Pro-FLEX features are the built in AES encryption for secure networks, 256k program flash, an integrated PIFA Antenna, and an option for an external antenna.
Pro-FLEX is a part of LS Research’s MOD-FLEX program, which gives the customer the flexibility of purchasing the certified modules to reduce time to market and then license certified design files to provide a path to cost reduction. The licensing of the design files comes with FCC/IC certifications and production package to quickly and cost effectively enables volume manufacturing. MOD-FLEX is structured to support a diverse client base of different sizes and budgets providing the most flexible and risk free way to enable your wireless products.
TI is excited to work with LS Research to develop a flexible solution for the emerging smart energy market, said Mark Grazier, manager of Texas Instrument’s Low-Power RF Developer Network. The Pro-FLEX module enables developers to reduce the time, cost and effort of designing new inhome smart metering products.
