The mine is expected to produce for up to eight years at 600 tons per day, and the project is estimated at 1.2 million tons of tailings from previous mining activities.
The company said Mexico has seen its production of gold nearly double since 2005.
According to the British Geological Survey, mined gold production in the country has gone from 26,782 kilograms in 2005 to over 51,000 kilograms in 2009.
