The La Candelaria project comprises about 1,976 acres of mining concessions located roughly 125 miles southwest of the capital city of Chihuahua.

The company said that Mexico has seen its production of gold nearly double since 2005.

According to the British Geological Survey, mined gold production in the country has gone from 26,782 kilograms in 2005 to over 51,000 kilograms in 2009.
