A second overhead power line across the Bosporus has been completed by Siemens. The four 400 kV three-phase systems transmit power from power stations located on the European side (Ambarli, Hamida Bat, Trakya Elektrik and Unimer) across the strait to the Asian side. Each system has been rated at 1400 MWe.
Siemens Power Transmission and Distribution was responsible for engineering, supply and installation of the cables.
The two suspension towers for the new overhead line on each bank are 160 m tall. They hold the suspended lines across the Bosporus for a length of 1880 m.
