The EFA, which is for ten years with an option to be extended, is for building the units on a global basis for Shell.

As part of the deal, Linde covers the licensing, engineering, procurement and construction services, along with the supply of modern equipment of ethane cracking units.

Linde said that it intends to deliver major cost savings for ethane cracking units from standardization and repeatability effects to benefit Shell and its partners.

The company has been awarded the contract for the licensing and basic engineering design package for an ethane cracker unit, as a first step in the EFA, according to Linde.

The Linde Group has generated revenue of €16.655bn in the 2013 financial year.
