Leviathan’s Wind Energizer is a passive land-based structure that can be adapted to any wind turbine from any manufacturer, the company said. By directing the surrounding wind flow to the most critical areas of the wind turbine’s blades, the Wind Energizer is designed increase wind velocity to the blades, resulting in a jump of power output by some 20-40% when the turbine is spinning and by well over 100% in the range of marginal or poor wind speed.
The Wind Energizer will cost about $300,000-500,000, depending on the scope of the installation. Leviathan Energy expects that return on investment to be 1-3 years. The company said that it is currently in talks with a number of large wind farm developers, including Mesa Power, about testing the product.
