The boiler will enable Lesieur Cristal to meet more than half of its thermal energy needs from renewable sources, doubling the company’s current use of renewables.
The boiler will help Lesieur Cristal in curbing fossil fuel and electricity consumption, thereby reducing energy costs and 12,500 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions annually, which makes the company eligible for around 12,000 reduced emission units, trade-able on the European Carbon Market.
EBRD will claim these carbon credits in the future and carry out an energy audit of Lesieur Cristal’s operations to underscore further potential energy savings.
Lesieur Cristal general manager Samir Idrissi said that the project will help the company in achieving its goals of optimizing energy costs, sustainability and energy efficiency.
"We hope this is only the start of a long cooperation with the EBRD," added Idrissi.
