Kolkata headquartered WBSEDCL provides power distribution services in West Bengal state.

The company delivers 96% of power in West Bengal, including parts of city of Kolkata, and the latest contract is part of its current grid modernization and electrification plans.

Landis+Gyr India CEO Sandip Mukherjee said the contract is the fifth successive order awarded to the company by WBSEDCL.

"Our commitment to quality and customer focused approach has gone a long way in securing this major order," Mukherjee added.

Landis+Gyr said it secured the order after having met the tough delivery schedule for the earlier 1.5 million meter contract that was delivered in 2013.

The company has supplied a total of 3.5 million meters to WBSEDCL in past five years.

Landis+Gyr is an independent growth platform of the Toshiba and 40% owned by the Innovation Network Corporation of Japan.

The company operates in 30 countries throughout five continents with 5,200 employees.
