Ensco Intercontinental, a subsidiary of Ensco, has awarded a $390m contract to Lamprell for the construction and delivery of mobile offshore drilling platforms of a Super 116E Class.

To operate in water depth of up to 340ft with a rated drilling depth of 30,000ft, the rigs are designed, according to Lamprell.

Lamprel claimed that it will fabricate both jackup rigs at its Hamriyah yard, located in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

With the second rig being delivered in the third quarter of 2016, delivery of the first rig to Ensco scheduled to take place in the second quarter of 2016.

Lamprell CEO James Moffat said the contract award demonstrates company’s position as one of the world’s leading builders of jackup rigs.

"We are delighted to be announcing this significant contract win from Ensco, a world leading offshore drilling company, which has trusted Lamprell with important shipyard projects in the past," Moffat added.
