As part of the ZAR4.2bn ($383.3m) relocation project, the company is currently relocating 17 private home owners and the occupants of 54 municipal houses in the north of Dingleton by the end of December.
The remaining will be relocated by the end of 2016. To accommodate the first households, more than 500 new homes are being built in Kathu of Northern Cape province.
The Dingleton community is separated by a 500m buffer zone from the mine.
Kumba public affairs executive head Yvonne Mfolo said: "We are dealing with people and their homes and will approach any challenges with sensitivity and empathy."
The Sishen mine is said to be one of the largest open pit mines in the world with sufficient reserves to sustain a 19-year life of mine.
