Scotland's Knoydart hydroelectric scheme has been nominated under the category of Best Community Initiative in the shortlist for the 5th Scottish Green Energy Awards.

Knoydart, located in Mallaig, is a community project that supplies electricity to the village of Inverie on the remote Knoydart Peninsular, located on the west coast of the country.

Companies and individuals who have contributed the most to the development of renewable energy in Scotland have been shortlisted for the awards, which are being held on 7 December in Edinburgh.

Organised by industry trade body, Scottish Renewables, and sponsored by npower renewables, The Scottish Green Energy Awards highlight the achievements of those individuals, companies and organisations in the renewables field who have made a significant difference to Scotland’s green energy production.
