The consent was achieved by renewable energy consultancy firm Natural Power on the company's behalf.
UK’s clean-technology company KPS has already developed and demonstrated a 40kW concept system at its current base, Bradwell-On-Sea Airfield in Essex.
The technology uses two kites flown on a fiber tether, which is tied to a winch system that generates electricity as it spools out.
At flight speeds of up to 100mph, the tether tension causes the line to spool out from a drum that is connected to an electricity generator.
The firm plans to commercialize a 500kW system by 2021 and will have deployed a floating 3MW system.
At present, the company is seeking to secure £5.5m of investment to undertake next development phase which includes testing of the Kite technology at West Freugh at heights up to 500m.
The project has already received financial support from oil major Royal Dutch Shell and the UK’s Department of Energy and Climate Change.

KPS, which has tested prototypes of 7m span rated at 40kW, plans to develop a full scale kite system with 40m wide with 2-3MW capacity.
