Queensland Government Department of Environment and Heritage Protection has approved Genex Power's Kidston solar project.

Genex Power has received confirmation from the Queensland Government Department of Environment and Heritage Protection that the existing Environmental Authority over the Kidston site does not require any amendment to enable the construction and operation of the 50MW Kidston Solar PV project.

Together with recent Development Approval and freehold land acquisition, all other material approvals and titles are now in place to enable construction.

Genex Managing Director Michael Addison, commenting on the approval, said: "Genex appreciates the continued support of the Queensland Government.

"In particular, the Queensland Government Department of Environment and Heritage Protection and Coordinator General worked closely with Genex to enable a timely approval process.

"With project approvals in place, Genex is now able to fast track development of the Kidston site into an important energy hub for the State of Queensland."
