A sampling program by Tanzgraphite at Mahenge has received a total of 26 rock chip samples with results ranging up to 29.9% total graphite carbon (TGC) and averaging 14.9% TGC, comparing favourably to other East African graphite occurrences.
A total of three samples from Kasita reported 16.5% TGC and averaging 13%.
Mahenge project, which hosts the Ndololo, Epanko and Kasita graphite prospects, consists of two tenements spanning an area of 325.5km2.
The company noted that the assay results support its belief that east Africa, Tanzania in particular provides a new province for the development of graphite.
Assay results are still pending from the Merelani-Arusha graphite project.
The company is progressing government approval for drilling at Mahenge and Arusha, which is expected to begin in mid-July 2012.
