Indian state of Kerala is mulling over the establishment of off-grid solar plants as part of its plans to generate 300MW solar energy for the state.
The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has placed the option before the state’s electricity regulatory commission for its approval.
Domestic consumers with monthly consumption above 200 units will be targeted under the initiative with KSEB to provide generation-based incentives to power developers.
KSEB plans to add the fore-mentioned solar generation capacity during the 12th plan period and also plans to install photovoltaic modules on all government buildings, reported The Times of India.
The board is also planning to install PV modules at reservoirs, open channels amongst other places.
