The KFELS B Class jackup rig can operate in water depths of around 400ft, drilling depth of 30,000ft and cam accommodate up to 150 crew members.
The KFELS B Class rig, which includes rack and pinion elevating system, and self-positioning fixation system, provides maximum uptime with reduced emissions and discharges, according to Keppel.
The KFELS B Class jackup rig, which is expected to be delivered in 3Q 2015, is the third rig for UMW by Keppel.
UMW has received first jackup rig UMW NAGA 4 in February 2013, while the second UMW NAGA 5 is scheduled to deliver in 2Q 2014.
UMW Oil & Gas president Rohaizad Darus said the B Class rigs are efficient drilling platforms with industry-leading features and have been well-received by the market.
"Our first jackup constructed by Keppel FELS, UMW NAGA 4, is currently deployed in offshore Malaysia while our second rig, UMW NAGA 5, is expected to be delivered in May this year and has already secured a charter from Nido Petroleum Philippines," Darus added.
