The diamond, which the company says is still partially embedded in kimberlite, was identified during logging of core recovered from Faraday 2 hole KDI-15-045b.

Kennady Diamonds CEO Patrick Evans said: "It is exceptionally rare to find a macro diamond in drill core during logging and this is the second time that our geologists have made such a find. This is a reflection of the high diamond content of both the Kelvin and Faraday kimberlites."

The company found the initial diamond in August last year during logging of core from the Kelvin kimberlite. It was described as a 0.94 carat white/colorless transparent octahedral twin with etched trigons.

Kennady will process the core featuring the Faraday 2 diamond by caustic fusion at the Geoanalytical Laboratories Diamond Services of the Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC).

A 436 tonne Kelvin bulk sample is also being processed via the SRC dense-media separation facility. Processing of an additional 2.6 tonnes of Kelvin South Lobe kimberlite by caustic fusion has started at the SRC.

Kennady has also unveiled diamond recovery results from the Faraday 2 2015 spring core drilling program.

About 0.93 tonnes of kimberlite from the southeast lobe of Faraday 2 was processed by caustic fusion at the SRC. The company returned a sample grade of 1.93 carats per tonne for diamonds of commercial size.
