US-based KDC Solar, through its subsidiary KDC Solar ACF, has commenced commercial operation of a 2.2MW photovoltaic (PV) ground-mounted, single-axis tracker solar system at the Atlantic Coast Freezers property in Vineland, New Jersey, US.

The solar power system is designed to provide 100% of the electric power needs for the J&J Real Estate Associates -owned Atlantic Coast Freezers warehouse site.

KDC Solar president Sam Sorbello said the company is receiving the dual benefits of lower electric costs and long term presence in New Jersey with the ground-mounted solar installation.

"The reduction of our carbon footprint is allowing us to expand our environmental stewardship in the local community and the state," Sorbello said.

KDC Solar CEO Hal Kamine said the power project will provide clean, lower cost, long-term solar energy to Atlantic Coast Freezers.

"The Atlantic Coast Freezers facility is yet another successful model for KDC Solar as it pursues its commitment to ‘behind-the-meter’ solar electric systems for businesses, governments and institutions, which in turn creates or preserves long-term jobs for the state," Kamine said.

The solar power system will produce around 3.4 million kWh of solar electricity per year.
