US-based engineering, construction and services company KBR has secured a contract from Subsea 7, to execute topsides design for the Chevron Lianzi development project in an unitized offshore zone between Congo and Angola.

The terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Under the contract, KBR will provide laser scanning of the entire Benguela Belize Lobito Tomboco (BBLT) topsides, execute front end engineering and design verification, and perform detailed engineering and procurement services.

The topsides design will include multiple equipment packages.

KBR will also assist during fabrication, installation, pre-commissioning and commissioning phases of the project. The company’s Houston operating center and its Luanda, Angola office will manage the project.

The $2bn Chevron Lianzi development project will include a subsea production system and a 27 mile electrically heated flowline to transport oil produced from the Lianzi field to the BBLT platform.

First oil is expected to be produced in 2015.
