IRAN’S POWER AND WATER Resources Development Company (P&WRD) expects to have the 2000MW Karoun-3 dam and hydro power plant operational by March 2005.
The Karoun-3 project is expected to produce 4137MkWh of electricity worth some US$200M annually. The project will also provide flood protection and irrigation water supply for farming.
The storage capacity of Karoun-3 has been estimated at 2750Mm3. Feasibility studies on the 1800MW Karoun-2, 1000MW Karoun-4, 500MW Karoun-5 and the 400MW Karoun- 6 projects are currently underway.
