In Tokyo Bay, Isogo plant is the only coal-fired thermal plant that is situated close to the centre of Yokohama and has received clearance from one of the Japan’s pollution standards.
Currently, the Isogo plant comprises two coal-fired power units which replaced the two older units with a combined power generation capacity of 530MW.
After the replacement, the Isogo plant now has a combined power generation capacity of 1,200MW.
No.1 unit at the Isogo power plant commenced its operations in 2002, it uses approximately 5,000 tonnes of imported coal per day, informed the company official.
