The new water supply business include the installation of tanks for accumulating rainwater in residential areas, disinfecting the collected water and supplying it as drinking water. The Australian business will also incorporate purifying waste water so that it can be utilized to flush toilets.
In addition to the water supply business, JFE Engineering will team up with the Kawasaki municipal government in Kanagawa Prefecture which has gathered know-how in water quality management, added Kyodo News International.
JFE Engineering hopes to spread the water business to other Asian countries which suffer chronic water shortages, said Kyodo News International.
JFE Engineering is a Japan-based developer and installer of various systems for waterworks, water purification plants and sludge treatment plants.
