GE Energy is to supply 40 of its Jenbacher engines for installation at an agricultural biogas project in eastern Germany, near the Polish border.
The contract for the high- efficiency, 500 kW JMS 312 units with Leipzig-based NAWARO Bioenergie marks GE’s largest ever order for Jenbacher Biogas engines.
Each of the engines is being installed in separate plants to support the new combined heat and power (CHP) Klarsee bioenergy park, located in the town of Penkun in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
The engines will produce 20 MW of electricity and 22 MW in thermal output with the electrical output being sold to the local grid. A separate, specially designed heat recovery system will deliver the thermal output to an adjacent fertiliser production facility.
