Kyushu Electric Power of Japan has begun construction of a hydroelectric plant in Miyazaki Prefecture, following approval from the Minister of International Trade & Industry. Kyushu will spend around ¥260B to build the plant. Work will begin in mid-year on the two dams that form part of the project. Four 300MW generators will be the power generation component of the project: Kyushu expects to bring the first two generators on line by July 2006, and start up the remaining two by July 2008.
