Jacobs Engineering Group, a provider of technical, professional, and construction services, has secured a framework contract from United Utilities, a water company, to develop new water, wastewater and sludge treatment plants in the UK.

The contract requires Jacobs to provide multi-discipline engineering services for the designing and development of new water, wastewater and sludge treatment and network facilities, and make modifications to the existing treatment and network facilities in the UK.

The contract, which has been provided under the Asset Management Program 5 (AMP5), will enable Jacobs to construct these new treatment facilities by 2015 to serve 7 million people in the North West of England.

Jacobs has secured this contract building upon the previous service delivery to United Utilities over the past three years on a range of projects, including the West-East link pipeline between Liverpool and Manchester.

Jacobs Group vice president Bob Duff said that the company is very pleased to have been awarded this contract, which further strengthens its existing relationship with United Utilities and it looks forward to assisting United Utilities in meeting the investment needs of its customers.
